Mock-Up Creation
We start with a mock-up package. A mock-up is an artistic rendering of what your website will look like. We begin the process by asking you about any preferences you have regarding how you want your website to look and feel. Then, we take your input and hand it off to a designer who comes up with an illustration of what a page on the site might look like.
Content Creation
Many of our customers prefer to create their own text. However, we recommend that you hire us to write the text for you. We have the experience to know what to emphasize and what to downplay. We will, of course, run all text by you before we publish it, and we will very likely interview you or any of your staff that you designate before we write much of the text.
Home Page Creation
Once the mock-up is created, we go to the next step of design, which is the creation of the home page. The home page is the most important page in the web site, for a number of reasons.
First, it's the part of the website design all the other pages in the site will likely link back to, which means it's also the page on the web site most likely to have the highest PageRank score. PageRank is based on linking relationships, and the page with the most links generally wins the PageRank contest.
Second, it's the page that many visitors see first, so it must provide an easy way for the visitor to quickly find their way to the specific content they want to find. Fortunately, modern search technology makes this less important than it used to be. Nevertheless, it is still a very important consideration when evaluating how to put a home page together.
Interior Page Creation
Once the home page is done, we then move to build the rest of the pages of the site, based on our contractual agreement with you. This is where our knowledge and ability really pay long-term dividends for you.
